Spagyrics Sweet Annie Spagyric Tincture

Sweet Annie Spagyric Tincture

from $39.95

Spagyric tinctures are prepared through an alchemical process that honours the full anatomy of the plant: the spirit, soul, and body. The volatile oils (soul), water & alcohol-soluble components (spirit), and purified mineral salts (body) are individually separated, refined, and then intentionally reunited. The result is a living preparation, not merely an extract, that carries the full life-force and signature intelligence of the plant in an exceptionally bioavailable form.

All of our herbal extracts use organically grown and/or ethically wildcrafted herbs and certified organic food-grade ethanol diluted to specific potencies in filtered and/or distilled rainwater, unless otherwise specified.

Sweet Annie (Artemisia annua), otherwise known as sweet wormwood and member of the Asteraceae family, is a highly aromatic herb native to Asia and now widely cultivated in temperate climates around the world. Known for its distinctive bitter taste and aromatic fragrance, sweet annie has been utilised in traditional Eastern medicine and parts of Africa for centuries. Traditionally regarded as a tonic for the liver, helping to stimulate bile production and improve digestion, sweet annie also has a long-standing reputation for its immune-boosting capabilities, often employed in fever-reducing remedies or to support the body's response to infections and pathogens.

In modern herbalism, sweet annie has gained significant attention for its antimalarial properties, particularly due to the presence of artemisinin. Artemisinin, has potent anti-protozoal properties, working to target the Plasmodium parasite that causes malaria, disrupting its ability to reproduce in red blood cells. Artemisinin has also shown promise as an antiviral, with in vitro studies suggesting it may have activity against coronaviruses, including the virus responsible for COVID-19. This preliminary research suggest that artemisinin derivatives may inhibit viral replication and reduce viral load in COVID-19 patients, though more clinical trials are needed.
