Shatavari Spagyric Tincture
Spagyric tinctures are prepared through an alchemical process that honours the full anatomy of the plant: the spirit, soul, and body. The volatile oils (soul), water & alcohol-soluble components (spirit), and purified mineral salts (body) are individually separated, refined, and then intentionally reunited. Shatavari (Asparagus racemosa) belongs to the Asparagaceae family, and has long been held in high esteem in Ayurvedic medicine as a supreme rasayana (rejuvenative) tonic for nourishing and restoring the female reproductive system - though its applications extend well beyond gender. Traditionally known as “the one with a hundred husbands” — a testament to shatavari’s reputed ability to renew vitality, fertility, and resilience.
With a naturally sweet and slightly bitter taste, shatavari exhibits cooling and moistening energetics, making it particularly suited to counter conditions of dryness, heat, and depletion across the body. The demulcent and adaptogenic properties help to rebuild the fluids of the body, soothe inflamed tissues, and promote resilience of the nervous, digestive, and reproductive systems. Shatavari can be especially helpful in cases of hormonal imbalance, digestive irritation, dry coughs, and emotional exhaustion.
Traditionally, shatavari has been used to restore strength after illness, promote fertility, calm inflammatory states (such as gastritis and ulcers), and support the body during transitional life phases - such as postpartum recovery, menopause, and times of intense emotional or physical depletion.

Antipathy in Galenic medicine involved using treatments that possessed qualities opposite to those of the humor associated with the disease. For example, if a patient had a condition characterised by excessive heat, such as a fever, Galenic physicians would prescribe remedies with cooling or cold properties to counterbalance the excess heat. Similarly, if a condition was considered excessively moist, treatments with drying or astringent properties would be employed.
