from $39.95

All of our herbal extracts use organically grown and/or ethically wildcrafted herbs and certified organic food-grade ethanol diluted to specific potencies in filtered and/or distilled rainwater, unless otherwise specified.

Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis) is an aromatic, evergreen subshrub of the mint (Lamiaceae) family that has been valued throughout the Mediterranean and European traditions for well over two thousand years. Revered by Greek and Roman physicians, cultivated in medieval monastery gardens, and later promoted under the reforms of Charlemagne, hyssop became one of the classic warming herbs of the Western Materia medica. Beyond its medicinal applications, hyssop was employed as a culinary herb and flavouring ingredient in traditional herbal liqueurs such as Benedictine and Chartreuse.

Major actives include volatile oils, bitter principles, flavonoids and phenolic compounds, making hyssop helpful herb where excess cold, damp and stagnant mucus predominate, particularly within the respiratory and digestive systems.

Traditionally regarded as a stimulating expectorant, aromatic bitter and gentle diaphoretic, hyssop can help to encourage the healthy clearance of mucus from the lungs, support comfortable breathing, soothe the throat and promote perspiration during the early stages of seasonal illness. Hyssop’s aromatic bitterness also stimulates digestive secretions, helping to relieve wind, bloating and digestive sluggishness while restoring warmth and tone to the gastrointestinal tract. Historically, hyssop was also employed to support healthy circulation, menstruation, urinary function and skin health.

Prepared from the fresh flowering aerial parts using the traditional spagyric method, this extract reunites the plant's volatile aromatic principles with its purified mineral salts to produce a balanced whole-plant preparation.
