  • Antipathy in Galenic medicine involved using treatments that possessed qualities opposite to those of the humor associated with the disease. For example, if a patient had a condition characterised by excessive heat, such as a fever, Galenic physicians would prescribe remedies with cooling or cold properties to counterbalance the excess heat.
